Melnsils, Latvia – 2019
Captured along the Baltic shoreline in Melnsils, this long-exposure image reveals the quiet remnants of a once-standing pier. Weathered wooden posts rise from the softened sea, while fractured concrete slabs rest in the foreground — traces of structure slowly surrendered to time.
The warm tones of dusk contrast with the smooth, tranquil water, creating a dialogue between permanence and erosion. The composition leads the eye toward the horizon, where sea and sky dissolve into a muted gradient of evening light.
Photographed in 2019, this work reflects the fragile boundary between human construction and the enduring rhythm of nature.
